The Looking Glass Volume 37 | Page 3

Letter from the Editor

Dear Readers,

For 37 years, The Looking Glass has strived to connect art and writing. Fueled by our students' hunger to display their talents, this magazine represents the diverse, emerging voices of Teaneck High School; each year we've worked diligently to enhance their platform. Four years ago, we introduced a new digital format that created the opportunity to add spoken performances to our legacy of art and writing. This year, we’ve pushed this element further with the incorporation of a new 'Beats' section, an artistic medium that had previously gone unheard.

Continuing our tradition of pairing writing with art, this year's designers worked diligently to curate an experience; each page tells a different story from the last. However, while in previous years submission topics have leaned in the direction of Love, it is clear that this year's students are emotionally-charged about the current state of the nation and our topics reflect it: Contemplation, Struggle and Protest. Our students have given voice to their experiences as 21st Century Americans and we hope their message resonates with you.

With that being said, it is my pleasure to present to you the 37th Edition of The Looking Glass, the literary magazine of Teaneck High School. As Editor-in-Chief, I have had the privilege to review each piece of art and writing submitted by the poets, artists, and writers of our high school. Our students' hard work and collaboration have yielded a unique artistic experience that we're sure you'll love.
