88 • HARDWARE&SECURITY PROUD SPONSORS OF THIS PAGE YALE ENCOURAGES LOCKSMITHS TO MAKE THE MOST OF NATIONAL HOME SECURITY MONTH SALES »»NATIONAL HOME SECURITY MONTH (NHSM) returned for its fourth consecutive year this October, attracting support from national press, magazines and radio, as well as causing a stir on social media. As a result, Yale is urging locksmiths to unlock potential sales by capitalising on the campaign. Figures reveal that domestic burglaries surge by 38%* following the clocks going back and onset of the darker evenings, so the campaign coincides with this peak time for security sales as consumers seek to protect their families, homes and belongings. Fortunately, 40%** of consumers agree that they’d prefer to use a professional to install security products as opposed to trying their hand at a DIY job. Therefore, NHSM presents a significant opportunity for locksmiths to benefit from the increase in demand. Throughout October, each week of the initiative centres on a different aspect of home security, with the second week (w/c 10th October) focusing on the entry points to the home and securing valuables within it - providing locksmiths with an ideal opportunity to upsell and promote British Standard locking solutions. Other weekly themes include smart technology and outdoor security, with the campaign culminating in a seasonal tie-in with Halloween and Bonfire Night – statistically the worst period of the year for domestic theft and damage. This year NHSM has already gained key support from leading security companies, including Mul-T-Lock, UNION, Yale Door and Window Solutions, and Lockrite, as well as backing from the MLA and local police constabularies. Stephen Roberts, Marketing Manager for headline sponsor Yale, comments: “With the success of previous years, we wanted National Home Security Month 2016 to be bigger and better than ever. A number of our locksmith customers, including national brands and independents, have signed up to support the initiative and we’re looking forward to working closely with them over the coming weeks.” www.homesecuritymonth.com or [email protected] New ABUS BSI* Cylinder Ranges »»ABUS HAS INTRODUCED a new TS007 BSI* cylinder range, tested to BSI Kitemark Scheme TS007:2014 1 Star and approved to British Standard BS EN1303.
