PROUD SPONSORS OF THIS PAGE INDUSTRYNEWS Never ending Window Restrictor range Our Window Restrictor range is never ending with our new Fixed End Window Restrictors, says UAP Tradelocks. Recently, UAP Tradelocks have extended their Window Restrictor range by adding Fixed End Window Restrictors, which are ideal for anyone offering door and window security in their shop. Their design means that they cannot be unlocked by a user, making them suitable for use in hospitals, schools, mental care centres and hotels, and for any occasions on which you want to make sure that the window will not be fully opened. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROPSA), more than 4,000 children in the UK fall out of windows and injure themselves each year. These are not only babies, but are children up to 15 years. This just emphasises how important window restrictors are in the home and are important child safety measures. Consumers are constantly looking for devices to help protect children, and the fixed end window restrictor is a perfect opportunity to make additional sales, especially if you already sell into places such as childcare nurseries and schools. Ben Jennings, Marketing Manager at UAP Ltd, says, “Our Fixed End Window Restrictors are more durable and effective than other restrictors on the market. They can withstand over 100kg of weight as opposed to the industry standard of 50kg of force.” The cable on the window restrictor is 20cm in length, and allows a window to open up to 10cm. This means that rooms can safely be aired, without the possibility of the window being pushed out any further. Not only will this protect your customer’s children (and pets) from falling from the window, but they are an adding window security device as the cable is made from hardened steel and very difficult to cut, as this prevents intruders from gaining entry via the most common burglary method, the window. “To enable consumers to colour match their window restrictors to their window handles and other furniture, we have launched our Fixed End Window restrictors in six different finishes including White with white cable, Brown with brown cable, Black with black cable, PVD Gold with black cable, Chrome with black cable, and Chrome with transparent cable. “Purchase yours now and put our Fixed End Window Restrictors to the test,” says Ben, “We assure you, they will not fail to meet your expectations.” http://tradelocks.co.uk/ fixed-end-windowrestrictors.html MLA joins powered gate safety campaign The Master Locksmiths Association (MLA), the UK’s leading trade association for the locksmith industry, is the latest professional organisation to join a vital national safety campaign. Campaigners have declared a week of action in October in a bid to dramatically improve the safety of automated gates in the UK. As well as licensing its approved company locksmiths to ensure they’ve been vetted, are regularly inspected and have met minimum competence requirements, the MLA promotes locksmiths’ standards of conduct and practice. It is the latest in a number of influential groups in the security, enforcement, inspection, education and safety sectors who are lending their support to Gate Safety Week (October 13 – 19 www.gatesafetyweek.org.uk ). It is being organised by the Powered Gate Group of the Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) which comprises Britain’s leading manufacturers, suppliers, installers and 24 THE SEP/OCT 2014 ISSUE SPONSORED BY ADVANCED KEYS maintainers of powered automatic gates and gate automation equipment.
