The phone rings, it’s a female voice: –
“Hello I’m from Apecs (never heard
of them.) “If I come down to visit you,
can you advise me on some of our
cylinders?”
“Yes, of course” I replied and a date
,
was fixed. The allotted day & time arrived
and it was not as expected - there on my
doorstep was a young, very pretty Chinese
woman! We talked about locks (she
certainly knew her stuff ) and tested the
cylinder – it failed due to a design fault in
the clutch for the key override facility.
‘the new design was spot
on so the cylinders were
put in for official testing
and this time passed
with flying colours’
“OK” she said, “I will contact China and
get the problem resolved.” Oh yeah, I
thought, some guy in China thinks he can
sort this out?
Two weeks later the phone rings again
– “Hello, it’s Apecs again, we have the
modified cylinders back from China,
so can I please come down and see you
again?”
I couldn’t believe it the new design was
