Access Control Technology (ACT), the Irish-based access control manufacturer, has announced the launch of its latest product, the ACTpro eLock which is now on sale through the established ACT network of distributors. The system consists of a battery operated, wire-free, electronic lock with a built-in card reader. The ACTpro eLock uses networked wireless controllers (Hubs), capable of managing up to 32 doors each. The eLock uses the latest ACT software suite, ACTenterprise for installation and monitoring. In keeping with ACT’s policy of continuous support to its customers the eLock is compatible with all existing ACTpro hardware. David Tymlin, managing director of ACT, stated “We realised that we could address the shortcomings of competing products on the market, whilst ensuring the latest in reliable, cost-effective technology. The ACTpro eLock is the perfect addition to our pro range of access control, and will be a popular product from launch day.” ‘the perfect addition to our access control range’ ACTpro-e-lock_142.jpgThe ACTpro eLock boasts longer range, longer battery life and an easier setup than competing products on the market. By using 868kHz wireless frequency the eLock can deliver a long-range capability between the eLock hub and the eLock itself. With a battery life tested to over 200,000 operations, the lock will be maintenance-free for years following installation. With the ability to add a door ajar/door open sensor, the eLock will also inform the system of alerts automatically. If it loses connection to the hub or in the event of a power outage, the ACTpro eLock will function independently until the connection is re-established. The ACTpro eLock will always allow free egress from the secure side, and can be configured to unlock in the event of a fire or other emergency. The eLock ensures the highest level of safety standards for your site. The launch of the ACTpro eLock coincides with ACT’s new professional level software suite, ACTenterprise, which can control up to 60,000 users and thousands of doors. At its General Meeting on 5th September, attended by over 41 delegates, ARGE voted to pursue its sustainability agenda through the creation of entry level EPDs. EPDs are the most effective way for communicating a product’s verifiable and accurate environmental information, and following the introduction of the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) these are becoming increasingly imperative. Three tenders have been submitted to ARGE outlining plans for the effective delivery of EPDs. These proposals will now be debated by ARGE, with the preferred method informing its sustainability roadmap. In addition, ARGE elected a Chairman and two additional members of the Executive Board. To read more, visit www.locksmithjournal.co.uk Hans Weissenboeck, will take up the position of the new ARGE Chairman and will be chiefly responsible for delivering the ARGE objectives and sustainability roadmap. Representing the Nordic countries at ARGE and introduced at this year’s conference in Budapest is Urban Doverholt, MD and member of the Executive Board at the ASSA Group in Sweden. Urban is also the President of the SEM Group, the Swedish Association for Construction Hardware. Stephan Schmidt, from Germany, is the second new member of the Executive Board and is MD of the German Fachverband Schloss und Beschlagindustrie, Germany’s main association for locks and builder’s hardware. Welcoming the new appointments, Joachim Kieker, ARGE General Secretary, said: “The decision to pursue the creation of EPDs helps to shape ARGE’s vision and sustainability roadmap – giving us some very clear aims to work toward and most importantly deliver for our members. We have worked hard to stress the importance of the changes in the construction sector and the impact these will have on the lock and hardware industry. The generic EPDs are crucial in helping our members to remain competitive in an ever-changing market and we look forward to defining our strategy and working toward achieving this.” www.linkedin.com/company/arge www.arge.org THE SEP/OCT 2013 ISSUE SPONSORED BY ADVANCED KEYS 35
