26 • ACCESSCONTROL PROUD SPONSORS OF THIS PAGE At the End of the Journey It’s been quite a journey over the last few years for one of the most highly recognised lock and security component manufacturers in the industry, but DOM-UK is evolving further with the launch of some exciting new products and an overhaul of its company’s branding. »»The Locksmith Journal’s Editor, Stephanie Wright visited the UK division in Oldbury, West Midlands to interview the National Sales Manager, Lloyd Chitty, about the reason behind the change of the company’s brand name, its newly launched products and the support they are giving to distributors and customers. DOM is owned by Groupe SFPI, a French group that specialises in the design and development of products and equipment for the construction and manufacturing industries. The UK division, previously known as RONIS-DOM Ltd, has sat under the umbrella of supplying access security control products, locks and offering turnkey solutions, since 1996. More recently, the company took the decision to rebrand itself under the DOM brand whilst keeping the individual product brands inside. DOM-UK has grown its business since its move to new larger premises in 2008. The 1,200sqm2 Birmingham based assembly plant is made up of 30 employees, with an on-site master keying department, able to create complex master key charts within 24 hours. The production department is divided into three areas; high security cylinder assembly and key cutting, industrial lock assembly and production of the industrial anti-tilt product range. Every cylinder order is quality checked by hand before leaving the company. DOM-UK produces a comprehensive range of commercial cylinders, incorporating double and single access, thumb-turns and master-key systems, along with a range of electronic devices and the recently launched ENiQ Mifare Digital Cylinder – an all-encompassing mechatronic access controlled knob cylinder solution, whic \
