LOCKSMITH JOURNAL caught up with newly appointed European Development Manager , Paul Nicholas about how his new role will have an impact on the business , and his aspirations for developing the UK market .

Joining BQT Solutions in March this year , Paul has some enthusiastic plans for his role . With some 20 or so years experience within the security industry , Paul initially starting his career as an engineer developing some of the earlier access , CCTV and intruder system in 1982 . His career has taken him to work for a number of security integrator control businesses both in the UK and Australia over the years , helping to advance his skills and knowledge in modern access control system through out the world .

Paul picks up the story , “ The leap to join BQT came about because I felt the business offered a comprehensive range of high level technical knowledge and solutions when it came to access control system . Unlike its competition , BQT has a strong heritage of providing key benefits to its customers ; understanding the needs to offer education , training and support to those fitting and using our products .

“ Offering a range of OEM and own branded solutions , BQT respond directly to the needs of the industry , offering solutions to

the constant changing challenges the market faces in today ’ s growing security breaches .

“ Customers remain a key to the heart of BQT ’ s philosophy and help the business create the market with a board range of high-quality products , services and solutions , to the degree where we have a solution for everyone !”

BQT ’ s range includes its own leading brands – Mifare Classic and Mifare DESFire smart card and biometric access control technologies . The high level security solutions offer access control at multiple levels to provide adequate security avoiding the risk of false credentials being used through hacking or cloning .

Paul continues : “ Using the right technology in either commercial or domestic situations , can provide a level of confidence for users and is vital towards the protection of a property . BQT offer access control systems which are designed at the correct level of encryption and security for medium and high risk security applications , providing a Smart Reader and card system with custom ‘ secret ’ keysets and encoders , developed to also offer configured software for larger organisations or more classified installations .”

Paul ’ s role as European development manager has been specifically designed to further develop the network of its current partner dealerships and introduce new product ranges , Paul explains ,

‘ highquality products , services and solutions , to the degree where we have a solution for everyone !’

“ The UK business already provides a varied and experienced range of internal support from my fellow colleagues . Such skills and knowledge is another one of the reasons for me joining the business , promoting the strengths the UK Division can offer will become clear to customers and should make my role a fairly easy job !

“ Joking aside , the level of assistance on offer to companies engaging with BQT has been proven to ensure that we go that extra mile to ensure customers and their customers get consistent support and advice when and as they need it .”

With the immanent launch of a new range of products , it is imperative that the business supports its business partners at every level . Partners are well established within the industry and supporting their activities when introducing a new range is essential to the success of the launch of any new products through the UK and Europe .

“ As my job title suggests , my role encompasses more than just the UK . Growth and development in European markets enhances our product offering in different marketplaces . For example , not all products are totally suitable to individual markets or countries , BQT has been quick to recognise this working outside of the Eurpoean Union and recognise the need to provide a variation of the systems if required .
