With a quiet start to the Sunday, the ‘overnighters’ managed to get onto the exhibitors they needed to, but by lunchtime, the place was again packed as another 580 people visited, seeking out those special offers and other bargains and buying stock at the event, which in 2015 celebrated its sixth year as an important date in the industry calendar. A quick check as the exhibitors packed up showed that some 80 percent have reserved their space for next year when the dates are 27th and 28th February (Mother’s Day is on 6th March so there is no family clash). Kasp Increases Its Security Measures »»In further support of its stockists, Kasp®, from Carl Kammerling International, has launched a complete Shed Alarm Kit, providing sizeable savings for consumers and helping retailers to bolster sales. ‘sizeable savings’ The new Shed Alarm Kit features an easy to install, wireless PIR motion sensor, triggered by the detection of movement - ideal for the home, garden shed, garage and even vehicles. The kit features an ultra loud 90 DB, portable alarm which sounds in the home to attract immediate attention and requires no mains power. The Kit includes the hardened steel Kasp 160 series disc padlock and hasp, free of charge. Ideal for gates and sheds alike, the Kasp 160 series provides high security with extra protection against hacksaw and cropping attacks, while a double bolted locking mechanism offers strength to resist torsion and pull attacks, and a 5 pin cylinder with anti-pick mushroom pins to protect against picking. A drill resistant cylinder protects the cylinder against drill attack. At just £29.99 rrp, the new Kit offer is designed to encourage trade-up from the purchase of a single alarm, bringing significant profit opportunities to retailers. www.carlkammerling.com. Tel: 01758 704704 OCD HOUSEHOLDERS MEAN OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCKSMITHS »»According to a report from major insurer, Swinton Insurance, around 12 million people in the UK are worried about home security, with 26 percent admitting they actually get up in the middle of the night at least once a week to check the locks. Some 35 percent of us apparently have to check twice on our doors and windows before we consider the house safe enough to sleep in. This means a lot of us are losing sleep and exhibiting signs of obsessive, compulsive disorder (OCD). But when burglary numbers are (it is reported) decreasing, why? Presumably, it is because so many householders are not confident in their security arrangements – such as those on the main points of illegal entry - doors and windows. Major publicity about the Euro cylinder lock problem has evidently struck home, with the result that more people are actually keen to address such worrying security issues – hopefully by consulting a local, reputable locksmith business for advice, and not attempting to save money by DIY efforts.
