The pair has been responsible for the introduction of a series of accredited professional training qualifications, aimed at giving Locksmiths and other interested parties the opportunity to add additional skills. Brian spoke to Locksmith Journal to explain how he and his partner utilised their military background experience to established Eclectic Security, one of the only training and development companies set up to offer a nationally recognised specialist PVCu maintenance and repair course. “After leaving the army, I trained as a Locksmith and set up business in and around the Nottinghamshire area. Times were good, but our market is highly competitive and there is always a need to grow your business to offer customers the best possible service. “Recognising this, Ouinton and myself set up a partnership to establish a business where we could offer Locksmiths the chance to offer their customers more than just the standard Locksmith services. “Establishing Eclectic Security was the first step to creating a professional training and consultancy to give Locksmiths the opportunity to enhance their skills, and other interested individuals to gain a recognised qualification allowing them to be confident to offer home and business owners maintenance and repair services on PVCu products.” The five day intense specialised PVCu maintenance and repair course offers an understanding of PVCu door and window mechanisms and the profiles in which they may be housed. Covering mainly practical hands-on activities, the course looks at assessing and carrying out work on internal and external beading, toeing and heeling, resetting keeps, identifying and measuring mechanisms, stripping and repairing tilt and turn and tilt and slide mechanisms, glazing and deglazing, hinge replacements , alongside many other PVCu competent activities to achieve a NFCE Level 3 accreditation. “The courses are run with a maximum of six delegates per course, allowing for close monitoring of individual skills and ensuring the delegates are getting the best overall attention. We are happy to hear from any individual or company who wish to enhance their skills.
