30 • LOCKEX2018 REVIEW PROUD SPONSORS OF LOCKEX 2018 HICKLEYS CHOOSES LOCKEX FOR SMART PRO LAUNCH » » TAUNTON’S AUTO LOCKSMITH specialist and home of the very well- known and respected Training Academy, Hickleys ‘set up shop’ in Coventry’s Ricoh Arena at the beginning of June for Lockex 2018 – Security & Fire Safety. Displaying and demonstrating a wide range of lock picking equipment – both auto and domestic – diagnostics apparatus, and key programming tools (such as the Zedfull with new Mercedes upgrade), it was the promise of the Advanced Diagnostics Smart Pro that had visitors speeding over to the Hickleys stand this Lockex. The eagerly-anticipated replacement to the MVP Pro, Hickleys revealed that Lockex would be the official launch of this ‘all-in- one hybrid solution’ in this very magazine and in email shots before the event, so many auto locksmiths had already decided in advance that this would be the perfect opportunity to catch a glimpse of and try their hand at the new piece of kit. The trade-only company, which stocks and supplies 100s of locksmithing products - from aluminium door accessories to bike locks, cash boxes to digital locks, panic hardware to roller shutter locks, tools to UPVC gear boxes - sells items from a vast array of manufacturers, and strange-sounding as it may be, it was ERA’s recent acquisition of Zoo Hardware that contributed to Mark Hughes wanting to come to the show. As Mark mentioned after the exhibition, he wanted customers to be assured that Hughes Wholesale would continue to sell Zoo Hardware products – and had a range on display at Lockex – as well Federal units, to name just two of its expansive list of manufacturers. In terms of the show, Mark also said the company had completed a number of good orders at the stand over the weekend and also appreciated the venue that the organisers had chosen for the event. www.hugheswholesale.co.uk KEY PROGRAMMING DEVELOPMENTS REVEALED AT LOCKEX » » BIRMINGHAM-BASED AUTO locksmith specialist, and the UK’s official distributor for The Diagnostic Box, Advanced Keys launched its latest key programming software at Lockex 2018 – Security & Fire Safety. Advanced Keys’ Kim Stanier said at the event: “Our main aim this weekend is to promote the latest developments in our key programming system; with special offers on the brand new Hyundai and Kia software. The team is primarily to help locksmiths understand the new software, and become familiar with it; more than pushing sales. “Everyone that has come to the stand so far has been genuinely interested in the product, and that’s why I like these shows, as you get to meet the people you speak to on the phone all the time but never get to see their faces. Also at Lockex, Advanced Keys presented its new cloning device, with a pre-production sample to show people, and invited industry feedback. LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | JUL/AUG 2018 Sponsored by APECS Kim added: “Everybody said it’s simple and easy to use; so far so good.” Looking at the months ahead, Advanced Keys is planning to launch more software for the key programmer, plus an expanded portfolio of keys, including an after-market range of keys to support the developments.
