Keith Cullen for winning this month’s Locksmith Lotto.
»»Keith, who has successfully
run Derbyshire Locksmiths for the last
21 years, was delighted to have won
this month’s prize of £100 vouchers to
spend on whatever he likes at leading
architectural ironmongers, Aldridge.
Keith lives with his wife Margret in the
village of Littleover in Derby and started
his career as a locksmith in 1994, after
spending a number of years working as
an engineer for British Rail. MLA trained,
Keith working areas cover the whole of
Derbyshire, Staffordshire and parts of
Nottingham.
Asked, what is the best part of being a
locksmith? Keith comments: “Every job
is different, even when I go out to repair
or replace the same sort of lock because
every door has been fitted uniquely the
challenge of opening is never the same.”
“Locksmithing keeps you on your toes,
especially at this time of year, where you
have to be more vigilant receiving calls
from potential lock-outs who claim to be
looking after properties for neighbours
or family. I often receive calls who claim
that they have locked themselves out of
the property they are looking after to find
that it is a bogus call, looking to gain illegal
entry.” Keith adds.
