PROUD SPONSORS OF THIS PAGE AUTOLOCKSMITHING CLONING - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What keys/chips cannot be cloned? The main ones are:• VW, Audi. Seat and Skoda (2001 onwards) using Megamos Crypto 48. • Fiat and Alfa Romeo using Megamos Crypto 48. • Ford Texas Crypto 80 bit chips (approx. 2010 onwards). • Early Vauxhall keys (id 40 on T12 chip). • Mercedes electronic keys. • Renault key cards. • Vehicles which require the buttons on the central locking remote to turn off the alarm (best way to check this is to use the original key manually). What are my options if the key/ chip cannot be cloned? You have no choice but to look at diagnostic programming equipment (which you plug into the vehicle). There are many options on the market with different prices and applications - but we will leave that for another article! Can I do any central locking remotes with my Transponder cloner? Yes, where the remote can be programmed manually and the chip cloned. The main example of this is the Ford 3 button/horseshoe style remote – there are a couple of ways to do this depending on the cloner:Bianchi 884 – Because they use the electronic heads for cloning, Keyline have developed their own Ford remote (RFD100) capable of the chip being cloned and then manually programmed into the vehicle. This system will also work for the Ford flip style keys. Keyline have also developed the RK60 remote cloning key – this covers a number of applications but because it is a clone, the vehicle can only see one remote at a time (a simple operation of turning the RK60 in the ignition lock will re-activate it after using the original key).
