PROUD SPONSORS OF THIS PAGE KEYCUTTING Lockdecoders declares war on fakes Lockdecoders Ltd has announced that it has officially been empowered by Red Technology of South Korea to act to protect their interest in the UK and Ireland. RedT are the manufacturers of the range of keycutting machines under the trade name, Miracle and also of the similar range of Magic engravers. Lockdecoders is the firm’s principal export customer and has contributed heavily to the development of the keycutting machines. The two firms say that they are acutely aware of the increase in Chinese copies and facsimile machines being produced and offered, often with misleading advertising to fool the buyer into believing that they are their (authentic) machines. Lockdecoders’ Victor Southern says: “The method is to advertise, for example, Miracle A9 - even using our photos on 72 THE JUL/AUG 2014 ISSUE SPONSORED BY TRADELOCKS the home page - but the site offers, say, an X9. So far three of our machines have been copied, including the obsolete Miracle A5. “The technical system is that they steal our firmware and software and so copy most of the tracing and cutting functions. Since they have no development costs and do not have any warranties or provide technical back-up, they can offer what seem to be startlingly lower prices. Also, of course, all of the materials are inferior and cheaper to use. “Very simply, they are picking our pockets and deceiving the buyer as well. They even tell them that WE will give them technical back-up if they are stuck, saying: “after all it is the same machine” . Victor points
