About one-and-a-half years ago, Paula Oliveira developed
a sharp pain in her back, and it became hard for her to work
and live her life the way she preferred: Independently.

“One particular day, I had completed
a really hard day at work and ended
up spending the entire night crying
because every move I made was
causing me excruciating pain. I am a
very active person; I like doing things
myself, but the pain was keeping me
from doing the things I used to do. I
had to depend on other people.
I went to the doctor and was asked
to do an MRI scan; the results
showed that I had a very
serious problem in my
spine. I was advised to
attend physiotherapy
sessions;
however,
they did not solve my
problem.
The doctor
prescribed a series
of three injections
and told me that, after
the third one, I would
need an operation. I
was shocked because
spinal surgeries can be
dangerous. A person
who undergoes
such surgery
runs the serious
risk of becoming
wheelchair-bound.
From that moment, an
inner war began within
me. I faced doubts and
concerns about what might
happen. I had thought that
this problem was something
normal; a simple problem.
However, the severity of
the pain had begun to affect
my life and my work, so I
decided not to take it anymore.
I had witnessed other people
recovering from problems like
mine through faith, so I began to
wonder why the same could not
happen to me. In fact, the problem
was in me. God was just waiting for
me to use my faith.
So, when I woke up to that fact, I
started using the blessed water that
was consecrated at the UCKG. I drank
the water and applied it to my back –
along with following all the medical
instructions given to me by doctors.
Through my faith, I determined that
my back would be restored. I started
doing things normally again, working
as usual. Even when I felt pain, I used
to think: “I am recovered.” I did not
accept the pain. People would say,
“You’re stubborn, let me do it for you”,
but I would reply: “No, I’ll do it myself
because I have already recovered.”
So, after the first injection, I had a
second MRI scan. When I went to get
the results, I was sure they would be
positive. The day before I had said to
a friend, “Tomorrow is the day of my
victory”. And it really was. The doctor
was surprised. She told me that she
had never seen anyone recover from
a spinal problem so quickly. She
said that she didn’t know what had
happened, but my spine had recovered.
I said: “You don’t know, but I do. It was
the power of faith!”
