Everyone faces hardships in life, some more than others,
however finding a way out is what varies for us all. Some
of us get there quickly, while others comform and think that
their misery is normal. We all deserve freedom from our
troubles and we all deserve a second chance at life. Maria
Rosa Teles, tells us of how she found her freedom at the
UCKG HelpCentre.
“Enduring abuse for more than 17 years left its mark on me. My self-
esteem and confidence was so low that I could barely pursue what I
wanted professionally.
I just didn’t believe in myself, but meetings like the Lifted event restored
that belief and my inner strength. It lifted me to be more than I had been
up until then.
I was able to leave that abusive relationship and get a better job that
demonstrated my capability and skills. I am now happy and fulfilled.”
