“ Imagine how I felt when the nurse gasped as she saw my leg . I lifted my head and looked down at the condition my leg was in and thought that I would never be able to walk again . My leg had almost been severed , but when you believe in a great God , nothing is impossible . Even as I lay on the floor while the ambulance attended to me , I never lost hope in God , I still loved God .
I had 12 hours of surgery and I had skin grafting . The doctors removed a bone from my hip and placed it in my damaged leg . But then there was another problem : the doctors were concerned that this bone would lose the supply of blood to it .
The pain and anguish was getting too much , I was revolted , enough was enough . I prayed to God for Him to show his hand in my life . Verse ’ s from the Bible stayed with me , these verses didn ’ t remain in the book ; they came to life ! I did not let my condition weaken my faith .
I attended faith-related services on Sundays at the UCKG HelpCentre with my leg in a cast . All the time I was attending , I told myself that one day I would be able to wear my favourite heels again , I was almost certain that God would truly lift me up again . My faith grew stronger and it allowed me to surpass this difficult time . I remained grateful and never faltered in my journey to recovery .
When you believe in God , it brings you peace . One thing I learnt is that when you go through a tribulation such as this , and you pass that test and make it through , you obtain a beautiful type of strength . You rise to heights you didn ’ t even know you could reach .
It ’ s been a blessing for my husband and children to see me overcome such a tragic event . Today , my leg is recovering at full speed and I am able to walk properly .
During my adversity there was no better place than to be under the wing of God , the peace and assurance I felt is beyond any human comprehension , and for my children this journey became a unique gift , they learnt that life is not always easy .
I felt as though I was planted and given a new life , when in reality I could have been buried instead , and
lost my chance at life . In the process I experienced spiritual maturation ! My life hasn ’ t been a fairy tale . I have clearly had my disappointments , my let downs , darker days , sleepless nights , but God was good to me . I am grateful to be above the ground and not under the ground .
My scar will remain to remind me how much God loves me . Every scar tells a story , mine is the scar of faith . We are not born to fit in but born to stand out ! You may be weary , weak , tired , frustrated because of life , but hold on , push through keep on moving , never give up . If you can ’ t run walk , if you can ’ t walk crawl , God never forsakes !”
