Diary of Forthcoming Events The lunch was deliciously catered by Mark Grove and his team at Cook & Butler and we cracked along at a goodly pace. Our guests were admirably introduced by Liveryman Fran Morrison and our Wednesday 24th January 2018 Principal Guest, Tim Wonnacott gave a generous and January Court and Dinner at Goldsmiths’ Hall very humorous reply to which I responded initially by drenching poor Tim in a glass of water - he was very kind Friday 16th March 2018 about it (sorry Tim!). I was very pleased to St show off Cathedral the newly found Livery Grant of Arms United Guilds Service at Paul’s and Letters Patent which have been missing for many years - our Clerk tenaciously sought them out, and Tuesday 20th March 2018 the new Immediate Past Master, Chris Allen, and his Election Court and Luncheon (Court and partners only) at Armourers’ Hall a beautiful re- IPM, Mark Gower-Smith have funded presentation and they are now resplendent in frames carved with tobacco leaves (or close to); Sandra also Wednesday 16th May 2018 located a huge banner Armoury not seen since 1985 and Angus The Master’s Reception at The Honourable Artillery Company, House Menzies, Clerk to the Master Mariners and never shy of a challenge saw to it that it was displayed on the Thursday 7th Quarterdeck. June 2018 Installation Court and Luncheon at Saddlers’ Hall on, apparently biblical- Whilst all this was going style downpours were being had all over London - oblivious to all that drama we ended our lunch Monday 11th and June trooped 2018 back to the quarterdeck where Coffee, Livery Golf Day Cigars, at Tandridge and Cognac awaited us (I did mention that our Livery enjoyed dining on the High C’s..) and which seemed to hit the mark – Liveryman Jemma Monday 25th Freeman June 2018 had kindly provided the torpedo cigars and had had them placed in souvenir tubes with our Common Hall Election of Sheriffs Crest emblazoned on it. Several of us also sported (Liverymen only. Apply to Clerk for tickets.) a limited edition Livery Smoking hat - originally conceived as a sort of shooting hat, it serves its purpose so well as a “team” hat, that of the twenty Wednesday 19th September 2018 ordered, one remained by the close of the day! Autumn Court and Dinner (Court only) but on HQS Wellington Thank you to the Master Mariners for allowing us the use of the venue, to Tim for being a perfect Principal Guest, and for everyone attending and giving my Monday 1st October 2018 year such a special start. Common Hall Election of Lord Mayor (Liverymen only. Apply to Clerk for tickets.) The Master 27 3
