YFU AND YES Since 2007, YFU has partnered with the US Department of State as a placement organization for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program. Having placed nearly 300 YES students across US communities, YFU joins a consortium of organizations that collaborate to support YES students before, during, and after their exchange experience. Participation in the YES program also enriches and brings diversity to the YFU community, adding students from more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Southeast Europe to the YFU student group. Founded in response to the events of September 11, 2001, the YES program seeks to build bridges of understanding between the United States and countries with significant Muslim populations. This full-scholarship opportunity is funded by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and provides high school students from these countries an opportunity to live in the United States with host families and attend high school for an academic year. Through its partnership with the YES program, YFU contributes to this timely and important need for relationshipbuilding between the United States and with YES partner countries. While on program, YES students participate in community service and cultural enhancement activities to give back to and learn more about their host communities. These activities expand the reach of the YES program, give YES students exposure to diverse communities and share the benefits of exchange as broadly as possible. WANT TO HOST A YES STUDENT?
