PROJECT TO HELP SOUTHEAST ASIAN
WOMEN WINS $10,000 GRANT
2011 YFU and YES alumna Dhia Fani, along with
a team of colleagues from Thailand and Indonesia,
recently won the $10,000 Seeds for the Future
Grant from the Young Southeast Asian Leadership
Initiative (YSEALI), a program started by U.S.
President Barack Obama to strengthen leadership
development and networking in Southeast Asia.

DEAR JOHN
Follow alumna Heather Day-Richter, France 1993,
as she travels through Slovenia sans family. She and
her husband John are humorously and beautifully
documenting their adventures on their blog, Dear John
— Dispatches from the solo travels of a married mom.
CCP STUDENT WINS SCHOLARSHIP
YFU Community College Program (CCP) student Yi
Cai was recently initiated into the Rho Psi Chapter of
Phi Theta Kappa at Wabash Valley College, receiving
a scholarship for her efforts. Cai is an international
student from China. While attending WVC, she has
been a member of Student Senate, Peer Counselors,
the Science Club, the International Club, on the CEO’s
Honors List every semester, and a member of Who’s
Who Among American Colleges and Universities.
Cai is also a member of the All-Illinois Phi
Theta Kappa Academic Team. Cai plans to transfer
to the University of Texas at Austin, where she
will be majoring in petroleum engineering.
