Wendy Cossman traveled to the Netherlands on a YFU exchange in 1971. After
earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan, graduating
magna cum laude in 1977, she spent her early nursing career at Beth Israel Hospital
in Boston. Wendy went on to run a health education program at an HMO in Michigan,
and become a prominent diabetes consultant in the Washington, DC area. Wendy
has spoken around the country on diabetes, stress management, health education and
parenting. She has been featured on Fairfax Magazine Television, written for diabetes
magazines and served on various boards of directors. Her passion for helping others
led to the founding of Weigh To Go/New Directions, a private health education and
nutritional coaching service whose mission is to help people make lasting lifestyle
changes that lead them to live healthier and more enjoyable lives. You can learn more

In her free time, Wendy volunteers for Hospice Caring as a Child Bereavement
Counselor, Make a Wish Foundation as a Wish Granter, The American Heart
Association, and Kids Enjoy Exercise Now. She loves to travel, host exchange students,
exercise, cook, read, paint and spend time with her family. Wendy resides in
Potomac, Maryland with her loving husband, Jeff, and two beautiful daughters,
Jenna and Allison and son-in-law, Mike.
