One of the fatalities was Oscar Apgar who
owned a business that made blinds,
window sash, moldings and shingles. The
business was located in the building where
Dr. Thorne now has his dental practice.
The picture is rather grainy but it does
show the sign painted on the wall and
probably Oscar and his two sons Leslie
and Ted. We also have a billhead for a
purchase by the phone company from
Oscar.
Directly across the street was a large wagon maker’s factory
owned in 1900 by August Henkel, the photo has some losses
(sometimes you have to be happy with what little you can
find). We have a few billheads from Mr. Henkel and one
from his successor Mr. Sharkey.
The Lebanon Borough Seniors Club

The Lebanon Borough Senior Club meets the 4 th Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Lebanon Borough
Hall. Our next meeting will take place on April 24 th , which is our Anniversary Meeting. The business meeting will
start at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon.
Bingo is on the second and fourth Mondays of the month in the seniors’ room at the borough hall from 1:00 to
3:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Game Day is also the first Monday of the month for 1:00-3:00 in the
seniors’ room. You are welcome to bring cards, your game or puzzle, or use what we have.
Our Exercise Program meets every Wednesday (excluding our meeting day) from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. in our
meeting room. The cost is $2 per session and is led by certified instructor, Susan James.
On Tuesday, April 16 th , there will be a trip to Crystal Point Yacht Club in Manasquan, NJ. Your choice of Entrees:
Prime Rib of Beef, Chicken Francaise or Panko Crusted Tilapia. The entertainment is the best music of the 50’s
and 60’s known as “Rama-lama-ding-dong”. The cost is $73 for members and $85 for non-members. The bus
leaves Lebanon Plaza at 9:30 a.m., and returns around 4:30 p.m.
The UPDATE, the seniors’ newsletter, is available for pick up the second week of each month at borough hall.
