Nottinghamshire School Games 2016
The day started off with everyone
nervous and the nerves were
building up inside them. Everyone
arrived at the Nottingham Tennis
Centre, the room was filled with
excitement and determination.
Some time passed until we were all
called to take a seat and watch a
short video of an Olympian showing
his support. He told us that we could
only do our best.
As the games lurked just around the
corner, our Broxtowe team started
well with the Kimberley girls coming
2nd in the first event of the obstacle
relay. The Broxtowe primary competitors did well in their races,
even winning some and coming
2nd also, we were off to a strong
start. Everyone was cheering and
excitement was let loose. In some
races we took the lead and won,
which was good as we needed as
many points as we could get if we
wanted to be champions.
As the day went on, we were still
doing well with even more victories
in both track and field events. Competitors from Broxtowe have said
that they were nervous but excited
then overwhelmed if they won.
After a whole lot of competing and
cheering for the events, the points
were counted and everyone waited
in anticipation of the results. The
Primary school results were called
first, with Broxtowe finishing 5th.
It was then the turn of the
Secondary teams...
Slowly they got to the top 3 and we
all got very nervous and hoping that
we would be called last, leaving us
in 1st place and crowning Kimberley
the best athletic district in Nottingham. They called 3rd and 2nd but
still no Broxtowe.
'... and in first place, it's The Kimberley School representing Broxtowe!'
We all jumped up waiting to receive
our medals.
This happened for both boy and girl
teams, making it a Kimberley double
for the first time in a long time!
