Christmas Shoebox Appeal
This year the Nurture Group organised the Shoebox Appeal. Tutors were invited to enter
the competition and we received 27 boxes from tutors and individual pupils. We had
131 votes from staff and students - the winners were 7BLXC and for the
individual prize -1st prize Jordan Crossman and 2nd prize Caitlan Morley.
Thankyou to all the people involved in the Shoebox Appeal. The boxes
go to children who have lived through poverty, war, hunger and who
have very little. You made a difference. You created a smile and
gave hope to a child.
A personal testimony from Tong Sy Sparkes (Year 7):
'When I lived in Cambodia, I stayed with my aunt.
One day my aunt told me to go to a building where
other children were and I was given a shoebox. In it
was pencils, colours, colouring book, sharpener, rubber
and pens. I felt astonished because I had never had
a present before. I thought it was the best day of my life!'
Merry Christmas everybody and thank you for caring.
