The Arkansas Medical Society House of Delegates met at 10:30 a . m ., on Saturday , May 6 , 2017 , at The DoubleTree Hotel in Little Rock . The following business was received and transacted .
1 . Dr . Michael Saitta , Speaker , called the meeting to order . There were 46 voting members present .
2 . Dr . Steven Strode gave the invocation and remembered AMS members that passed away during the pastyear .
3 . Dr . Scott Cooper addressed the Board as outgoing President . 4 . AMA President Dr . Andrew W . Gurman gave an update on AMA activities .
5 . Dr . Omar Atiq presented the Asklepion Award to Linda McGhee , MD , of Fayetteville and Scott Smith , JD , presented Sen . Cecil Bledsoe with a plaque for her contributions to health care in the state .
6 . Dr . G . Edward Bryant thanked the Nominating Committee and introduced the slate of officers . The following officers were elected :
