THE SUN SHINES

I have always been different and kind of weird when it comes to musical genres. My favourite one is metal, and Rammstein is my favourite band. For me their best song is Sonne, which means sun in English. This article is centred on it.
The band’s lead singer, Till Lindemann, composed this song in 2001. It talks about hard times and how to face them. The song advises us to be like the sun. No matter what happens, it always shines. There may be clouds which may blot it out but they will be short-lived. This idea is reflected in the best bit of the song, the chorus, which goes, ‘The sun is the brightest star of all and it will never fall from the sky.’ This phrase encourages us to face our problems and to keep on “shining”. This has been my main ideal since I listened to it for the first time.
The sound of the instruments, empowered by the use of distortion on its production, makes the music great and suitable to the lyrics. I believe that this song wouldn’t be the same in any other genre, but who knows? I’ve listened to other bands performing Rammstein’s songs, with different instruments, without the use of distortion on them, and even in choir version and I’ve been impressed. There are songs that, performed in choir version, sound excellent, almost like the original versions. I would like to have the experience of listening to Sonne this way.
I like listening to it whenever I need inspiration to do something that requires huge amounts of effort, like working out at the gym. Also, when I’m depressed, it helps me to raise my head and play down problems.
Sonne has taught me that, no matter how awful the situation is, the sun will always be there, shining.
