Human beings are in a constant search for knowledge; a human society uses education as a way of transmitting that knowledge. The word education comes from the word in Latin “educere”, which means “take out, pull out” or “Form, instruct”. Therefore education can be defined as the process of learning and acquiring information, although some people also consider education as the science or art of teaching.

We can say that there are different types of education: The one that comes from formal schooling and the one that comes from life experiences.

Formal schooling

Is the education that people receive at school; in classrooms where trained teachers present information to the students. It generally starts when children are around the age of five and continuous until the teen years. These lessons teach the students how to write, read, and do math; also they develop critical and thinking skills. In this type of education, as the years of schooling advance the difficulty of the subjects increases too.

Life experiences

We are educated each day, when we acquire a specific skill or when we learn to act in a new better way. Also we educate ourselves to have certain surviving skills, socially known as self-sufficiency; we learn to be independent, and responsible. Each culture has their own skills that are needed to coexist with each other, those we also have to learn. To human beings education is essential; it is a procedure to grow up as better and more critical persons.

Education as the fundamental problem

Nowadays there is a huge problem with education, because it is not the way it’s supposed to be. Teachers are not qualified, some people never learn how to write, read or even do math. They don’t have a critical mind, and never develop important thinking skills. There are grown men and women that don’t know how to be self- sufficient they are not responsible nor independent. Most of the people have no access to education, books or some kind of information.

It also is a major problem because; education is connected directly to our society; health education, sexual education, school education, life education, language education, science education, cultural education, environmental education are lacking all around the world and that delays development, and denies to people a better, healthier, happier way of living.

The world needs to be educated properly, and we have to power to do it.
