Dealing with Failure 1: Resitting a failed Exam By: Peniella Doris Ampong If you have recently found Failure is not fatal Imagine this, your WASSCE or University semester results are finally out. All your friends passed and are eagerly sharing their results in  various whatsapp groups but you have to keep yours  hidden and make yourself scarce because you failed your exams. Failing a final exam at any level on the academic ladder can be quite frustrating and leave you with feelings of shame and guilt. You may feel like that failure has redefined your future but the good news is that exams failure does not determine the outcome of your life. How you handle and move forward from that is what matters yourself in this category, I want you to remember that this is not your end, you dont have to settle for a mediocre life because this failure either.  Decide to move forward There are many things you can do to forge on and achieve your dreams. One of these is to resit the exams Re-sitting a failed paper is one of the many things most students find difficult and challenging. Some reasons include fear of mockery from friends, fear of repeating the failure and FOMO (Fear of missing out). Here are four (4) major steps to help you prepare to resit that paper and prevent future exams failures:  1. Do an honest assessment of the cause of your failure Do a  quick and honest assessment of the reasons for your past failure. This will help you avoid future failures so don’t lie to yourself. Several factors could be the reason why you failed that paper. It could be your lack of preparedness and commitment to diligent studies, inability to remember whatever you had read concerning the subject area, inability to translate whatever you had read onto the answer booklet, time constraints in the examination hall, fear and panic, etc. THE INSPIRER, PAGE 5
