Right now, Wisnia is busy spreading the word about his new song, ‘Sky Blue Sky’ and will be releasing more music throughout the end of the year, including new collaborations between him and other Brazilian artists, which he is really excited about.

Wisnia uses music to create community with youth, including giving a Ted Talks on ‘The Nature and Nurture of Bossa Nova.’

“I think learning about music and having an outlet to perform provides discipline, builds community, fosters storytelling, and establishes a foundation and an outlet for creativity,” Wisnia said. “Music is also a great way to forge connection and find commonality with others.”

Wisnia leads workshops and goes to schools and camps to engage kids.

“Kids are so eager to learn and so enthusiastic to participate, they are often my best audiences,” Wisnia said. “I think it is really important for kids to have access to music, and access to learning about music, from a young age.”

Wisnia brings a wealth of musical knowledge to the table, playing piano, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, melodica, and kazoo. In fact, you can check out his YouTube video “How to Kazoo: A Kazootorial” right here.

Creating events where people come together and rally around an important cause is another way Wisnia creates community, bringing him great joy.

“It’s another way to connect with people and effect change,” he said. “Being able to raise awareness for The National Brain Tumor Society with the No Brainer benefit Concert, or being able to showcase fellow LGBT artists at my showcase at The Bent Compass Party in Austin, Texas, adds so much meaning to what I do.”

Performing is something Wisnia truly loves, whether it be an intimate living room or back yard concert or a classy setting like The Philadelphia Museum of Art or The Kennedy Center. He said he is most grateful that his music is that it fits in anywhere, comfortably.
