Singer/Songwriter INGRID MAPSON talks about how her experience with the Social Media Course.

The course was recommended to me by Tom Jackson Productions via his email list to those of us who have paid to be on his Backstage Pass list.

I have taken his course and it has taken my shows to a new level, so I really am interested in anything he would recommend.

Indeed it turns out this Social Media course is very helpful.

It is even enjoyable to watch the videos because

Ariel has such a lovely way of presenting herself and speaking! Also it is very organized, with separate lessons for different social media platforms. And there is an area where members can network with each other and try out their skills right away.

My manager and I decided it was time for me to concentrate on building my following, so I am applying her principles.

Twitter seemed pointless to me before but now that I have learned how to use it, and applied some of her principles, I am starting to see how this could go somewhere. People have started to follow me back and I have a better idea of what and how often to post. You asked about challenges.

She recommended to follow a couple hundred people who follow artists like me on Twitter. Well it was easy enough, yes, but it took quite bit of time, however it paid off.

It is also fun to find acquaintances in other countries who sometimes direct message me! And even a couple of us have followed each other on Facebook from that connection on Twitter.

Facebook is the basic social media outlet so it was great to find out better how to navigate it and what to do about my friend page versus my artist page.
