In August 2015, Matthew will host his Fifth Annual BackHome Fest which brings in a great lineup of talented artists to his hometown, Mammoth Springs. This year he sold 25 VIP tickets with proceeds from the sale of these tickets going to his scholarship fund.
Each year Matthew gives a scholarship to a senior from his alma mater, Mammoth Springs High. He also donates all of the proceeds from his many Stageit.com shows to fund the scholarship. He hopes this scholarship will help motivate a student to not only dream the dream, but step out and pursue their dreams.
Using his talent as a singer, Matthew also supports several other charities throughout the year by entertaining children at various hospitals and Team Keegan, an annual cancer benefit held in Michigan.
I have been privileged to be included in my friends accomplishments for 2015 and I am pleased to say that this is just the beginning of what is shaping up to be a great year.
Matthew Huff has been nominated for 2 awards in September at the Josie Show/Country Blast Radio
Award Show and 4 nominations at this year’s IMEA Award show in October which include: Country Male Artist of the Year, Country Song of the Year “This Is Our Home”, Hip Hop/Rap Song of the Year Featuring Matthew Huff and Songwriter of the Year.
I was overseeing his merchandise table at a recent event, when a person approached me and asked if I was a family member or friend? Out of curiosity, I said “why do you ask?” His response was I can see pride on your face both when you look at Matthew and when you watch him perform.
After he left I thought yes, I have been blessed to have a friendship with a very talented singer/songwriter but what I am most proud of is the man I see behind the music.
A man whose love of family inspired him to write a song about his grandparents “Together Perfectly”, a song about his mother “Song for Mom”, a song for his father “My Dad”, one for his community “This Is Our Home”. Matthew is the kind of friend that will text or call you out of the blue just to say “I was checking in to make sure all is good in your world”
That is the best kind of friend one could have.
