Having been involved with the iCWeekly network, broadcasting on the Internet for a number of years, the idea for MSI: was something that seemed like a good idea and simple way of providing exposure for artists.

How long has the show been going?

The show has been broadcasting live, every Sunday at 4pm eastern / 9pm GMT, since January of 2011. We take a hiatus during the month of December, during which time our Annual Award voting is taking place for the MSI: Artist and Panelist of the Year.

Are there any restrictions for submitting music on the show?

Because MSI: is broadcast live on the Internet and made freely available through YouTube, iTunes and various other locations, we do have some restrictions. These are in place, mainly, in order to keep the program family friendly.

Songs must be in MP3 format.

Songs must be no longer than 5 minutes in length.

Song file sizes may be no larger than 20MB.

Songs that are inflammatory or overly offensive will not be tolerated.

Submit Radio-Friendly selections.

Songs must be the original works of the composer and not be covers of others people songs.

Songs must not utilize backing tracks or unauthorized samples.

By uploading to MSI: you are stating that you own the copyright and have full permission to use the song.

Not all songs will be used. We maintain the right to reject a submission if it breaks any of our TOS.

This information appears on our song submission pages and artists are reminded of them in the email confirmation of their song submission.

How are the songs for the show selected?

Each week 3 songs are selected to appear on the broadcast.

The songs are randomly selected, usually the day prior to the broadcast.

As part of the selection process, I, personally, review each song to ensure that it meets the

requirements outlined above. If a song fails to meet those requirements it does not appear on the broadcast.

All artists are notified, by email, when their songs have been selected to appear on the broadcast.

What benefits do you have for the winners of the weekly show?

We believe that there are many benefits for any artists appearing on the program.

Unbiased review and critique of their music by music industry personnel is one of the biggest.

There are, however, many other benefits every artist, including exposure for the artist and their music.

Our Song of the Week selectees have the opportunity to compete during our monthly HITLIST competition, where, in addition to the opportunity of winning Band of the Month, are offered prize and promotional packages from our sponsors and partners, of which the IMC Magazine and Worldwide Indie Radio are two.

Can you explain what the HitList is?

The MSI: HITLIST is a monthly competition where the previous month’s Song of the Week artist selectees are pitted against each other in hopes of being voted as our Band of the Month.

This competition takes place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
