This is all true, but another way to describe this song is through Stage Republic’s choice of album cover. They chose to use a photo of a woman in midair as she hurls herself to a man with outstretched arms, hanging from a trapeze. The song ‘I Got Your Back’ is about a person who at times finds it hard to express their emotional commitment but has stood by you in the past and will continue to do so.
This eloquent expression of the gift of confidence is also represented by the image of the woman taking a leap of faith, knowing her partner will be there to catch her.
After listening to the song I was not surprised to learn that ‘I Got Your Back’ will be featured in the soundtrack on an upcoming Hollywood film which is currently in production and will be released in early 2017.
Stage Republic is currently in the studio working on their third single ‘The Dream’ which will be released in October 2016. Raven describes the song’s central theme as going against the time in pursuit of your dreams; and no journey is too hard if you find what you seek. I had the honor of hearing a demo of the song, which is still in production.
When faced with a difficult decision, many people stay on the established path where they feel most comfortable with. Stage Republic made the decision to change direction. Their sound evolving from Electro Pop/Rock to a more organic Pop/Rock sound which is reflected in their four new singles they are releasing in 2016
and based on the positive reviews, airplay and success of their first two singles ‘Big Blue River’ and ‘I Got Your Back’, it is clear the music industry and fans are embracing and loving this new sound.
When asked Raven stated:
The messages of the band are as strong as ever and as old as humanity:
together we'll survive
together we are strong
no journey is too long
when you find the things you seek
when you make it to the peak
when you push on till you live
the dream
