The ultimate goal of the CBTTC is to improve outcomes for children with brain tumors by supporting research on new prognostic biomarkers and therapies. It consists of 4 primary member institutions: Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (the #1 pediatric hospital in the United States), Seattle Children's, The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. CHOP works as the Operations Center for the CBTTC.
I chose to support this event for serval reasons, cancer is the number one cause of death by disease among children. I was shocked to discover that only 4% of Federal Government Cancer Research Funding and funds by the National Cancer Institute goes toward Children’s cancer.
According to, The Truth 365 an Emmy Award-Winning grass-roots documentary film since 1980, fewer than 10 drugs have been developed for use in children with cancer compared with hundreds of drugs that have been developed specifically for adults.
I applaud the researchers and organizations such as the two mentioned in this article that are devoted to helping fight cancer in children. I hope you join me in my support of this great benefit hosted by David Britt.
