relationship with her mother Alexa state "I talk to her literally ten times a day about everything and most of the time it's about the business."

Looking through Babe Essentials' Instagram page which heavily features the brand's signature pink color and #bossbabe, it is clear that one of its primary missions is to empower women. I asked her about this and if there are any other women besides her mother who inspired her. She goes on to explain that she actually draws a vast amount of inspiration from her customers with whom she communicates on a daily basis through social media and email. Those who message her to express satisfaction with her products push her to do more. Even more impressive, Alexa spoke glowingly about brands that might be considered her direct competitors, she applauds them for promoting an organic lifestyle. On the theme of Female empowerment, she also shares the story of her involvement with Jasper House. An organization based in Jacmel Haiti, which Alexa describes as a beautiful city and I concur. They are working to empower and create opportunities for women who have been affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse. Alexa explains the importance of giving back to her community, "Growing up in a such a small and poor country, volunteering and creating an impact for those who are less fortunate is engraved in me." And speaking of Jasper House in particular she explains, "I helped them over Christmas break, we organized yoga classes and all the proceeds went to Jasper House, with that they were able to buy things for the house." She goes on to state, "We plan to collaborate on a lot of things, hoping to educate these women on even how to make their own soaps or even just something creative."

Alexa's mother, Stella Handal Baboun, is evidently the main source of inspiration behind her skincare brand called Babe Essentials. During our interview, she tells the story of how she grew up watching her mother, a former chemistry major put together her own beauty products using essential and organic oils. Today her mother is her business partner and very instrumental in running the business, based in Haiti. As Alexa explains, she is in charge of the creative aspects of the business including packaging, labeling, managing the Instagram account, and reaching out to potential sales partners in Haiti.
