Likewise, book-keepers and bakers may find it convenient to have someone else take care of their marketing and promotion efforts. Entrepreneurs do have to be highly motivated, and not averse to risk or rejection. There is no one telling you when to report to “the office” and a slow period may leave you feeling as though you’re doing something wrong. If illness, injury or crisis leaves you unable to run things for a time, there is little in the way of a financial safety net, although some voluntary coverage through Employment Insurance is now available. Medical, dental and other benefits don’t exist. And while you can take a vacation when you want, it will probably require you shutting down operations for a while, which means no income.
