Acts of kindness
As part of its 50th anniversary , St . Clair College is promoting 50 Acts of Kindness among its students and staff for 2017 . In February , the students of the Early Childhood Education program reached out to one of their community partners .
Storybook Early Learning Centre in Essex experienced a fire in January resulting in a complete loss . Since then , the centre has set up in a temporary location , but is in need of materials .
The ECE program has been collecting what it calls “ beautiful junk ”… everything from paper towel rolls and scraps of ribbon to furniture and toys . Students recently dropped off the donations to the centre and staff were very excited to start going through the boxes of treasures .
The centre has always supported the ECE program by offering placement opportunities and students were happy to give back .
A time to celebrate
The City of Windsor launched a new website and initiative in February to highlight this year ’ s celebrations : Canada150 , Windsor ’ s 125th birthday and Ontario ’ s 150th year as a province .
The goal of the Celebrating2017 initiative is to bring together municipal government , businesses , organizations , community groups , and the public to celebrate these important heritage milestones for the city , province and country throughout the year . From Signature Events uniting and involving the entire city , to Community Events and neighbourhood celebrations that bring people together , the year will provide many opportunities to make Windsor a dynamic place of civic pride and a hub for innovation , culture and creativity .
