Why did you choose Amherstburg as the location ?
Smashed Apple originally began as a food truck and catering service . Our food truck could be found within Amherstburg at local parks , festivals , events and businesses . The reception we received from the community was more than we could have hoped for and so a loyal following began , making it an easy decision to open our first restaurant in Amherstburg .
Word of mouth quickly spread through Windsor- Essex County making us a favourite throughout . As our reputation grew , so did our business . Windsor can expect the ease and convenience of enjoying our unique and high quality menu as we expand our brand into Windsor and possibly other areas within the near future .
Does the name have a story behind it ?
Chefs tend to be an informal band of brothers . We are constantly on our feet without breaks in a hot kitchen , the work is intense , fast-paced and demands perfection every time . In between our hard work we also play hard , who else will still be up weekends , holidays , early morning hours ?
During one of our well deserved nights of " playing hard ," we came up with the name Smashed Apple . Between the same sense of humour , to our constant creativity or maybe the delirium from working so hard , so long and late without breaks … there was no question Smashed Apple was the name that best described us . Some get it , some don ' t , either way to my band of brothers the name Smashed Apple hits home .
