What is Pretty Skeins and why should our readers be
excited?
Pretty Skeins is Windsor’s newest boutique yarn shop
located in the heart of Pillette Village. Whether you knit or
crochet, we have yarns, notions and staff to help you with your
project from start to finish. If you are thinking of learning to
knit or crochet we offer a wide range of classes, project-based
workshops and technique driven seminars designed for all
skill levels.
How is Pretty Skeins different from the competition?
We offer a wide range of natural fibres with competitive
pricing to the box stores. We also have a focus on Independent
Canadian yarns. Exclusive to Pretty Skeins are Ontario-based
hand-dyed yarns from Northbound Knitting, Long Dog Yarns
and Oceanwind Knits. As knitting and crocheting are not your
grandma’s hobbies anymore we like to stay on trend with
current colours and stylish project options and yarns.
Why did you choose Pillette Village as the location?
There is a charm and appeal about being a part of a
neighbourhood of small businesses and you get a real sense of
community. Pillette Village has a wonderful BIA that sponsors
several events throughout the year and it’s also convenient to
get to us by car or transit.
Does the name have a story behind it?
In a way, yes it does. Having been in and around the
industry for almost two decades the most common word I’ve
heard describing yarn is pretty, and the proper term for a ball
of yarn is skein. So when the time came to choose a name for
the shop we just combined the two and hence Pretty Skeins.
