Shipshewana Town Council 4/11/2013 Council Actions: • Approved NO Parking on east side of State Street north of Middlebury Street, both sides of Berkshire Drive east of State Road 5 to the E & S driveway, south side of Lakepark Soccer Field along County Road 250 North and both sides of County Road 735 West. Parking for the soccer field will be expanded north of the field. Also, eastbound short-term parking only, in front of Shipshewana Post Office. • Approved the hiring of Brandon Hooley to replace Derik Baldridge as a deputy of the Shipshewana Police Department. Hooley formerly served as a Shipshewana reserve officer. Baldridge is leaving to join the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department. • Approved the purchase of 11 Multi-purpose immobilization devices (MPID) from Karbon Arms, Inc. for the Shipshewana Police Department. The equipment is required in order for the department to be compliant. • Announced the hiring of Jessica Kaogh as receptionist at the Shipshewana town office. • Approved the hiring of 3 Trine University students at $10-12.50 per hour for summer help. • Approved the engineering to repair or replace the lift station located north of US 20 and east of State Road 5. It was announced that there are funds available in the Capital budget for this project. • Town manager Mike Sutter announced that Spike and the Bulldogs will perform at the Shipshewana Event Center on June 8 and again on November 9 this year.
