Virginia “Ginny” Hiltwine
Virginia “Ginny” Hiltwine, 63, of Hammonton, died Sunday, Septem-
ber 9, 2018.
Ginny was born in Philadelphia and a Hammonton resident her entire
life. Ginny was a 1973 graduate of St. Joseph High School and received
her Bachelor’s degree from Glassboro State College. She was a former
teacher at Winslow Twp. School and currently a first grade teacher at
Hammonton Early Childhood Education for more than 15 years. Ginny
was a member of the Hammonton School Board 1999- 2001, a member
of Hammonton Hawks and Hammonton Little League Auxiliary. Ginny
was the recipient of Teacher of the Year in 2017.
She is predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Marion (Penza) Coia. She is survived
by her husband, Joseph; her sons, Tim (Cassie), Joseph (Jamie) and James; siblings, Geor-
gianna Gazzara (Matt), Karen Combs (Colburn) and Anthony E. Coia (Terri) and grand-
children, Joseph III, Wesley and Bryce. Ginny was a loving, caring and generous person
who always put others before herself and held a special place for her ECEC family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing today, Wednesday evening, Sep-
tember 12, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third Street,
Hammonton. Another viewing will be held on Thursday, September 13 from 9:30 a.m. to
10:30 a.m. at St Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish—St. Joseph Church, Third & French Streets,
Hammonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ginny’s name to Hammonton Cancer Foundation,
PO Box 1066, Hammonton, NJ 08037, Hammonton Education Foundation, PO Box 552,

Mina Berenato
Mina Berenato (nee Iuliucci), age 89, of Hammonton died peacefully
on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at her home.
Born and raised in Waterford, she married Louis J. Berenato and
moved to Hammonton.
She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Carmella Iuliucci, and
her husband, Louis. Surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, August 5 at
St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish – St. Joseph Church, Hammonton. En-
tombment Greenmount Cemetery.

Corneil (Connie) Cuomo
Corneil (Connie) Cuomo (nee Eelman) of Elmtowne died on Sunday,
September 2, 2018 at the age of 90.
Connie was born in Passaic, New Jersey, graduated in 1946 from
Princeton High School, was married to the late Frank G. Cuomo and set-
tled in the Hammonton area in 1955. She held the position of executive
secretary to the CEO of Ancora State Hospital for 27 years.
Connie is predeceased by her sons, Neil A. Cuomo and Frank Joseph
Cuomo(infant); brother, Rev. Wm. C. Eelman and parents, Wm. C. and
Margaret (Roche) Eelman. Surviving are her two daughters, Eileen
(Allan) Bilder, Nancy (Joseph) Bartolone of Hammonton and son, Robert
F. Cuomo of Villas, N.J.; sisters, Margaret Motzenbecker of Venice, Florida, Lois Aust of
Hamilton, N.J.; brother-in-law, Anthony Cuomo also of Hamilton; seven grandchildren,
Mark (Tracie) Bilder, Amy (Pete) Scaffidi, Melissa (Jimmy) Passarella, Joseph (Lauren)
Bartolone III, Jacob (Erin) Cuomo, Matthew (Michelle) Cuomo and Andrew Cuomo; 10
great grandchildren, Mason & Tyler Cuomo, James & Luke Passarella, Peter John & Nicolas
Scaffidi, Francis & Zachary Bilder, Windsor Cuomo and Joseph Bartolone IV; as well as
many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, September 10, 2018 at St. Mary
of Mount Carmel Parish—St. Joseph Church, Hammonton. Burial was in Greenmount
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie’s memory to: St. Vincent
DePaul Society, 226 French St. Hammonton, NJ 08037.

Yvonne Davenport
Yvonne Davenport, age 83, of Brighton, Mich. died peacefully on
Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
She was born September 7, 1934 in Nesco, NJ to Robert P. and Mary
Alice (Ford) Stewart. On June 13, 1951 she married Walter Davenport.
He preceded her in death in 2014. Mrs. Davenport was a homemaker
who enjoyed traveling with her husband to antique car shows and taking
trips in their plane all over the U.S.
Surviving are daughters, Geraldine Treder of Brighton and Wendy
(Mark) Whalen of Fenton; three grandchildren and seven great-grand-
children.
The family received friends on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Keehn Funeral Home,
Brighton, Michigan.

Hammonton Police make several arrests

vehicle complaints, Jones said.
In other crime news, the follow-
ing arrests were made last week,
Jones said:
• On September 6 at 1:07 p.m.,
at the ShopRite located at 80 S.
White Horse Pike (Route 30), John
Ciarlante, 47, of Hammonton was
arrested for shoplifting six cans of
crabmeat, Jones said.
He was served with a complaint
and released pending court, Jones
said.

Verderame was the arresting offi-
cer.
• On September 9 at 4:07 p.m.,
Walter Matthews, 44, of Woodbury
was arrested for shoplifting at Wal-
mart, Jones said. Jones said K-9
Officer Jonathan O’Neil was the
arresting officer. Matthews was
served with a complaint and re-
leased, Jones said.
In a separate but related arrest,
Jones said loss prevention officer
David Burnett III, of Sicklerville
came to the police department on
September 9 at 6:06 p.m. regarding
Matthews’ shoplifting case. At that
time, it was discovered Burnett had
an outstanding warrant for $2,500
from Florence Twp. and was
turned over to Florence Twp. Po-
lice Department, Jones said.
Bail for Burnett was set at
$2,500 by Judge Patrick Mellor,
Jones said.
• On September 3 at 10:04 p.m.,
Arthur Catts III, 37, of Mays Land-
ing was arrested on a $2,000 war-
rant from Mays Landing, Jones
said.
Officer Kenneth O’Neil was the
arresting officer, Jones said.
Jones said Catts was unable to
post bail and was sent to the At-
lantic County Jail.
Hammonton Police made
several arrests in recent weeks,
Hammonton Police Lt. Kevin Friel
said.
• On August 29 at 11:50 p.m., an
accident led to a DWI arrest, Friel
said. The accident occurred at the
intersection of the White Horse
Pike (Route 30) and Pleasant Mills
Road, Friel said.
Friel said there was a two-car
motor vehicle crash, with the driver
of one of the vehicles leaving the
scene. A witness followed the
driver to the 800 block of Moss
Mill Road, Friel said.
The driver and vehicle were
found behind a residence on Moss
Mill Road, Friel said. The driver,
Natasha Menage, 46, of Rochester,
Pennsylvania, was charged with
refusal to submit to breath testing,
driving while under the influence,
consumption of alcoholic beverage
in the vehicle, reckless driving,
careless driving, failure to maintain
a lane, leaving the scene of an
accident and failure to report an
accident, Friel said. She was held
as per John’s Law and released
pending a court appearance in
Hammonton, Friel said. Her
passenger, John Fellows, 51, of
Monaca,
Pennsylvania
was
charged with allowing her to drive,
Friel said.
Officer Kenneth O’Neil was the
arresting officer, Friel said.
• On August 30 at 5:29 p.m.,
there was a burglary on the 400
block of Walnut Street, Friel said.
“The complainant stated that
unknown subject or subjects were

observed as having a glass broken
out of it and a towel draped over
the sill,” Friel said.
Friel said the property was bank-
owned; someone made entry but
police were unable to ascertain if
anything was taken from the
residence. The bank was contacted
to secure the building, Friel said.
Class II Officer Dalton
Verderame was the investigating
officer, Friel said.
• On August 31 at 9:39 a.m. on
the 500 block of Old Forks Road,
police were called regarding
graffiti on the school district’s
grounds building, Friel said.
“Someone spray painted a devil
and pitchfork on two signs, a
storage container and a power
generator,” Friel said.
Class II Officer Travis Hoffman
was the investigating officer, Friel
said.
• On September 1 at 4:25 p.m.,
on the White Horse Pike, police
received a call of a vehicle driving
“all over the road.” When the
police encountered the vehicle they
observed moving violations and
stopped the vehicle, Friel said.
Upon stopping the vehicle, they
found the driver to be in possession
of prescription pills without a valid
prescription, Friel said.
John Grassmick, 52, of
Hammonton was charged with a
criminal charge of possession of
prescription pills, a motor vehicle
charge of possession of controlled
dangerous substance in a motor
vehicle, unsafe glazing material,
failure to stop or yield, careless
driving, expired driver’s license
and he was released on his own
recognizance pending a court date,
Friel said.
Officer Jason Rigby was the
arresting officer, Friel said.
