Their ethos is to be a takeaway offering good quality food and value for money. O including a Kids burger, Fish strips or Chicken strips, all R39 and all served with chips. Having opened at Green Valley Shopping Centre a year and a half ago in April 2016, the restaurant is well established and has become a favourite takeaway option for many locals. But did you know that there is another branch? Originally opened under a different name in Sunward Park Lifestyle Centre in Boksburg in 2005, the two almost identical branches are going from strength to strength. “We are not currently a franchised business but it is something we would like to do in the future. Our concept is to franchise the brand and have a national footprint in the future.” When looking for a location for the Green Valley takeaway, the criteria were a high volume of shoppers in a dense residential area, exactly what the centre offers. “Our focus is on takeaways and deliveries – we are all about family meals while offering something a bit more healthy than your usual takeaway meal,” says Michael. A new feature for Prego Express is that their meals are also available for delivery. If you live within a 3km radius of the restaurant, you qualify for free delivery for orders over R120 (otherwise the delivery cost is R20). But now, for those who are based just that little bit further away, Prego Express have got Mr Delivery on board so that anyone in the area can enjoy their food in the comfort of their own homes (simply visit www.mrdfood.com or download the app). Another innovation is their eco-friendly takeaway packaging which enables people to reheat their food directly from the box in the microwave, something you cannot do with polystyrene. Although takeaways are the main business at Prego Express, they www.facebook.com/JungleTotsGreenstoneHill still cater for dining at the restaurant with Don’t comfortable seating 32 people in the miss our for bustling food court of Open Day the centre. Their breakfasts with a Portuguese twist, served until 1pm, have been very well received so far. Owner, Michael Pestana explains that Prego Express offer a quality, wholesome takeaway option with food which is made fresh to order. “We use top quality ingredients and cook everything from scratch, so while your meal may take a little longer – generally 10 to 15 minutes – you know that what you are getting is fresh and flavoursome.” Using authentic Portuguese spices and sauces, Prego Express dishes have a unique flavour which a lot of people come back for on a regular basis (you can purchase a range of sauces in store as well). “We are not Nandos though,” states Michael. “People ask for ‘extra hot’, and although we do offer meals as lemon & herb, medium peri peri and hot peri peri, it really isn’t about the heat, it’s about the flavours.
