Wait so... what the heck is rhetoric anyways?

Rhetoric, AKA, the Art of Persuasion

Rhetoric, also known as the art of persuasion, is any speech that is pervasive. So, is it possible that we use rhetoric all the time without realizing it? Yes, you are probably a user of rhetoric every single day. You are also a victim of rhetoric every single day and you probably don't realize that either. Rhetorc sorrounds us, it persuades us, and it governs the way we talk day in and day out.

So Who Uses Rhetoric?

As humans, we are naturally rhetorical beings. As human beings, we use rhetorc, or persuasive communication, to get other people to see the way we want them to or to persuade them to do sonething. People in power, the President of the United States, for example uses rhetoric not only in his speeches addressing the country in which he goverens, but also in his campaigns. Movies, such as Saving Private Ryan and Crash, can also be rhetorical or have a persuasive attitude about them.

Why Rhetoric, Why Now?

Rhetorc is a vital tool in communication. As EWM majors we communicate in different ways, through writing and speaking, constantly. Anytine that you try to change someone elses mind or see a situation from your poin of view, you use rhetoric. One might even say that using effective rhetoric is manipulative, but instead it is just purposful communication. Surprisingly, Rhetoric has been around for centuries, and consiquently we still study it today. Plus, you may not even realize it, but we usually need to be persuaded to make both important and every day simple decisions. So, why not rhetoric and why not now?
