What is a Gala? For those of you who don't know what a Gala is a social occasion with special entertainment or performances. This year I attended St. James Holt Crossing Baptist Church Valentine’s Day Gala which was hosted by Dr. Boykin and his wife Sarah Boykin. This event was held at Comfort Inn Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama. Dr. Boykin and his wife Sarah have been married for 22 years. They have been serving in the Marriage Ministry for 3years at St. James Holt Crossing Baptist Church. They are such a kind, loving and sharing couple. They are very easy to talk to. It has been a blessing to meet and fellowship with them. What I also love about them is that they don't mind sharing personal stories about their marriage in order to help others whom may be in need of Godly advice concerning marriage issues, especially newlyweds. Speaking of newlyweds; one of the games we played that night was the newlywed game. It was so much fun watching the other couples try to remember things like where they first met, their first date, and what things irritate there spouse the most. We played the bible sweetheart matching game and a few games of hearts using chocolate candy. The games and door prizes were awesome! The food was great! The deserts were amazing; A Social Event Catering did a fantastic job! The table décor was remarkable! It was done by Mrs. Hunter and Minister Love who happen to be event planners and members of St. James. The Comfort Inn staff was very professional and friendly. The rooms were very clean. The overnight stay was enjoyable and the popcorn was too! In the words of Dr. Boykin, “What happens at The Valentines Day Gala stays at the Valentines Day Gala.” They couldn't have picked a better hotel for this event! I gave this event and the hotel 5 hearts. Saturday February 14th 9:30 –12:30 at the Rufus A. Lewis Regional Library located at 3095 Mobile Highway, Montgomery Alabama my daughter and I had a grand time fellowshipping with some of God’s anointed sweethearts at the EMPOWERME “LOVE YOURSELF” BASH. Let me introduce you to Yasmine Harris, Angellica Jones, and Autumn Ellis. They are the faces of EmpowerMe mentoring and Educational Program. They discuss issues like mental and physical cyber bullying, healthy relationships, hair, fashion, modesty and many other topics. They empower young ladies from ages 12-18 to love themselves and to enjoy who God created them to be. The “Love Yourself “Bash was very informative, and fun. Each person at the Bash got a chance to share something about themselves. This was a good way to open up. We listen to them as they talked about how we should always aim to please God and how each person is uniquely made by Him. They definitely let their light shine when we all formed a prayer circle at the end of the Bash. They spoke words of life and enco uragement over us. They spoke against the works of the enemy and loosed love, joy, peace, provision and favor into our lives. Their prayers were genuine and heartfelt. Theses sweethearts did a terrific job! They made candy bags with chocolate kisses and little teddy bears to show a little love and appreciation to everyone who came out. God bless you ladies. Keep up the good work. I give this event 5 kisses
