Marché Couvert Saint Quentin – I love this little market on Boulevard Magenta, built in 1866 it has a village-y vibe going on. There are several covered markets in Paris but I like this one best as I feel like a local when I go there, it’s so normal, such a part of everyday life for Parisians in the area. It’s very close to Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est where I’m often to be found lurking, waiting for a train. It is great for a beer or glass of robust red wine; there are several restaurants (including a gluten free one) and seafood stalls where you can scoff a plate of oysters washed down with a glass of white wine. The Bistro in the centre is frequented by the locals and you’ll be made to feel welcome here by the barman whose family have run the bar for decades. Feel like a local for the cost of a glass of wine.
