caUSEARTIST COMPASSION AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

CauseArtist was started three years ago by Grant Trahant out of a passion for finding creative brands, startups, and social entrepreneurs impacting the world through social enterprise. Grant quickly understood that consumers have a massive amount of power to change the landscape of not only the business world, but also the developing world. Grant graduated with a degree in Political Science/Digital Design, and wanted to somehow blend the two into something exciting and have a positive impact on the world. As a result, CAUSEARTIST is a place of discovery, education, and information that introduces readers, consumers, investors, organizations, and brands to the amazing things that this industry has to offer.

Explain what social entrepreneurship means?

The simple answer is social entrepreneurship is taking a traditional business model and

tweaking it a bit. I think the distinction is putting priority on impact rather than profit. But, I do think profit is very important, that traditional business sense needs to still be alive for a social entrepreneur to succeed, because you can’t make an impact if your product and story do not resonate with consumers. Essentially a social entrepreneur looks at margins and profits as a way to make an impact. If I can make a $20 profit on a product why not invest $5 or $10 of that into a social impact cause. That is how a social entrepreneur thinks.

What impact do you think technology is having on Social Good? And specifically, how do you measure the impact on CAUSEARTIST?

Obviously tech has played a huge role in every part of our lives.
