(venus + capricorn) X retrograde =

devil wears prada

Venus is a capricious planet. True to the nature of the goddess that she is named after, even when Venus is going direct, thus channeling her energy "normally," she tends to act out. I mean, for goddess sake, what kind of planet has its day last longer than its year? It take the prima-donna 243 days to rotate around herself, checking her image in the mirror, while only 225 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.

Once every year and a half, Venus retrogrades for 40 days and 40 nights (very biblical), making sure we know how important she is. The next retrograde motion of lovely Venus is between Dec 21st and Jan 31st (which happens to be the Chinese New year). Venus will be walking backward wearing high-heels on the steep high hills of the Capricorn mountains. To be honest, she does not like to be in Capricorn, she would rather be in Taurus or Libra or Pisces, or Cancer or Leo but she is stuck with the Goat-nation from Nov 2013 to March 2014. Capricorn rules career, ambition, fears, responsibilities, focus, and strategy. Boring! A girl, as the sages say, wants to have fun, and while in Capricorn, Venus is an unhappy girl...

Venus Retrograde

Dec 21, 2013 - Jan 31, 2014

Venus in Capricorn adds extra responsibilities to our relationships. Key word here is commitment, the need to make a plan. You will hear a lot of "so where are we going with this relationship?" Capricorn also represents fears, doubts and skepticism. It can lead to mistrust and second guessing the trajectory of a business or love relationship. Since Capricorn is also associated with politics and power, while Venus travels through Capricorn, there will be a great deal of news items and stories covering women of power, CEO, as well as women fighting for equality in workspace. Capricorn also rules figures of authority and people who are older than us. Venus in Capricorn can bring us in contact with conservative and mature people and while she goes retro, Venus might cause misunderstandings and problems with these people. Expect some tea-party activities to push themselves into the spotlight until March 1, trying to outfox Fox News with ultra conservative ideologies. In addition, you might have to deal with your fears of rejection and abandonment during the next two months. To get a better understanding of Venus retro in Capricorn, go back to Jan 1 - Feb 6 of 2006, the last time we had Venus hiking the goat-sign territories.
