JEDI MASTER MIND CONTROL: MCDONALD'S

Today we are infected by media and advertising. It is worse in big cities where the visual contamination is outrageous. Every channel you turn on, every store you go to has a way to subconsciously affect your decision making process and unfortunately, as the humans we are, we fall for it. One master mind controller is McDonald’s. They use every tool in the book to get you to consume their products and their number one brain controlling weapon they have is SUGAR.

Almost every single food item they have, contains sugar, including their hamburgers. They even added new items on their menus like their fruit smoothies which contain more sugar than an actual coca cola. Another tool in their repertoire is that their foods are HIGH in CALORIES. Our brains are different from the past, when food was scarce, we would naturally choose high caloric foods since we never knew if we would have food the following days. Regrettably, our brains take thousands of years to change, and our brains are still searching for high caloric foods. A third weapon they use is SPEED.

The faster a product reaches our brain the more addicted we become to it. Think of drugs, the most effective and more addictive way to take recreational drugs are by injecting them into our blood stream. The reward you experience is almost immediate, priming your brain to select that method in the future. Think of being hungry now. You go to your home and get the frying pan out, cut your vegetables, cook your meat, serve it on a plate, then you eat; or you drive through a small window and two minutes later you have a fry in your mouth?

Finally, MEMORY is also a tool for this Jedi Master, studies have shown that children prefer to eat hamburgers from the happy meal box than without the box even though the hamburgers are the same ones. Our hippocampus, which stores our memories, activates and relays its information to our reward centers when we see something that we are familiar with. On top of that, it reminds you that there is a toy associated with that hamburger. Genius, isn’t it?

We live in a world with an enormous amount of choices and a deceiving amount of information. Not everything that says organic is totally organic, diet does not mean you won’t gain weight, and made with natural juice does not exempt the use of other preservatives or artificial chemicals. The key in our modern society is to eat balanced meals every day and not let food cravings control your mind. Remember, you can choose what you eat and regardless where you work or what your situation entitles there are always options available for you.

Here is a brief list of things you should consider when making brain food choices:

1 – Eat the right type of carbohydrates (potatoes, fruits)

2 – Eat a balanced breakfast

3 – Consume foods with omega-3 fatty acids (fish)

4 – Avoid processed sugars and eat more fruit candy (fruits)

5 – Exercise regularly and (lose, not loose) lose weight slowly
