Trust and Credibility

Building trust and credibility with your audience is critical to growing your brand and your business. Make sure you deliver on everything you share and say. You only get one chance, with every interaction with the public and media outlets, so be sure you capitalize on the first impression. Inventory your public media accounts and make sure you use these guides when establishing credibility on your website, social media outreach, and communications.

For your website

Make sure the website you are driving presses to communicate that you are a big deal, through messaging, positioning and images. Have you included the logos of big brands or media outlets where you have spoken at, who have sponsored you, or partnered with you? Big brand logos immediately convey trust and credibility. Are the images professional and do they convey your business is important?

For your social media

Look at your social media communications closely. Make sure that the words you have chosen to communicate who you are and the details around the news you want to share are bold, intriguing and wildly descriptive. Also, include social media stats in your outreach materials.

Do you have over 10,000 fans on Facebook, or have you had a very successful YouTube video or channel? Don’t shy away from bragging about your social media numbers.

For your communications with the media and your audience

Creating excitement is really important and not very hard. Brainstorm with your team on how you can create a “rolling thunder” approach to your biggest announcements and events. What milestones are happening in your business that you can share? Do you have any reports coming out? Upcoming speeches or appearances? Are you giving back to the community? Are you being recognized for any achievements? Do you have a new service or product to announce?

Growing your business is never easy, however, by using and leveraging these media tips, you will create more buzz around your brand. By creating awareness and momentum in the public eye and media you will be able to see steady growth. If you’re patient, consistent, professional and incredibly interesting, you will win over the media and grow your business.
