Lack Of Education
WCK recognizes that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Households with educated mothers are much more likely to send their children to school than households where the mother has received no education.
In developing countries where income is low, each additional year of education can increase a person’s future income by an average of 10%.
THE GOAL
World Central Kitchen seeks smart solutions that encourage children to attend school in areas where enrollment is low. Through the power of food, WCK will promote education to empower communities and strengthen economies.
THE PROGRAMS
World Central Kitchen has established Boulanjri Beni Sustainable Bakery and Pwason Beni fish restaurant on the Zamni Beni orphanage property in Port au Prince.

In the mountainous village of Palmiste Tampe, World Central Kitchen has installed a Smart School Kitchen that has drastically altered school attendance:
165 students attend the Palmiste Tampe School encouraged by the daily meal
Palmiste Tampe School has seen a 135% increase in enrollment since the building of the kitchen
