Don’t judge a person by what you

think about him or what you have

heard other people speak about

him, because no one really knows

what he has been through. You

might have heard stories about

them, but you didn’t feel what the

person felt.

The story of Richard Mafuriranwa

Richard Mafuriranwa is a Pastor and

a qualified Social Worker accredited

with the Australian Association of

Social Workers (AASW). His research

interests include spiritually

sensitive social work, social work

education and practice using a

strengths based/solution-focused

and systems perspective. Richard

has submitted an application for

higher degree by research (PhD) on

a critical review of the interplay

between spirituality and social work

education and practice: The case for

Zimbabwe.

Richard is an ordained Pastor in

Forward in Faith Ministries (FIFMI)

International (see www.fifmi.org)

one of the most powerful churches

in post-biblical Christianity. FIFMI

was founded by Archbishop Dr E.H.

ethnicity, religion and spirituality.

By telling our stories, we do tell of

our lives and experiences, the

jungles we have crossed, that had

ravaging predators, and the flooded

rivers that were full of crocodiles

that we miraculously crossed.

Your story is a narrative that

explains and defines you, it

contextualises your life experiences,

failures, victories and wins. Your

story shapes your unique life

framework and what makes you an

expert in certain areas and services.

No-one except you has travelled the

same road you have travelled. You

are wired differently through your

life experiences. Do not be ashamed

of your life story, your failures,

weaknesses, wins, victories and dark

spots. Everyone’s story has dark

patches.

Life’s stories are different, your

story is not the same as mine, its

unique to me and how God has

wired me for my destiny. Some life

stories are characterised with

severe pain, abuse, trauma and

disappointments. Don’t mind those

that tell you your life story is not

exciting. You are the hero of that

story. Only you knows what you

went through, the pains and the

gains. Be an expert in telling your
